This short book is a story of the very long, very difficult journey that the whole philosphy and acceptance of preschool education has taken in Mexico The narrative begins in the pre-storm calm of the presidency of Porfirio Díaz; passes through the deadful, inhuman years of the Mexican Revolution and the idealistic but flawed period of its inmediate aftermath; continuing on through slightly more settled but equally the only slightly more enlightened years of early rule by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the grip of the perennial vicious circle of poor economic management, limited budget and underdeveloped treatment of public educational; to the recent clearer recognition of society's needs and the vision and financing to match it.
